Located in Los Angeles, Gramercy Court offers 16 affordable housing units to young, single-parent families transitioning to permanent homes.
The building also contains a daycare, community rooms, and space for social services and programs for the mothers. The project is an adaptive re-use of an existing structure. The original 1923 brick building was remodeled and opened in 1996 by Gramercy Group Homes, a nonprofit organization. The shade structure in the backyard serves as a play area for children and was developed in collaboration with Rural Studio, a design-build architecture studio at Auburn University in Alabama.
