Kings Road represents a step forward in multifamily residential architecture.
A disciplined interaction of simple geometric forms, the project consists of two basic volumes, one an L-shaped bar along the north and west sides of the lot containing nine loft units, the other, an asymmetrical shape with full-height loft spaces with up to 20-foot ceilings inside. Units range in size from 1,371 SF to 2,016 SF, featuring private interior staircases and patios, in a two-floor or three-floor module. In some units, an arresting “fire
orb” suspended fireplace draws the eye to the corner of the living rooms. Each of the units in the “L” volume has a private rooftop deck, featuring wood decking and views to Santa Monica, downtown and the Hollywood Hills. The stair towers to reach the decks provide more visual variety from the exterior and admit toplight to the interior.
